Everton have long been known to be admirers of Memphis Depay, however they now seem to have competition for his signature. This is because Tottenham are also thought to be interested in the Dutchman, and they will reportedly make a move for him in the January transfer window. It is also thought that a number of foreign clubs are also interested in Depay, including Nice, Wolfsburg and Roma.
Everton’s need for an attacking wide player has only increased recently, thanks to the news that Yannick Bolasie will be sidelined until the end of the season with a serious injury. Spurs also feel that Depay would add something to their attacking options, despite already having a number of options in attack. It is unknown if the Dutchman has a preference though.
The battle between the two clubs is reminiscent of the fight between them to land Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day, when Spurs stole in to take him from under Everton’s noses. Everton boss Ronald Koeman will be anxious to prevent Spurs doing the same thing with Depay.
It is also thought that Everton are interested in another Manchester United player, as they want to bring Morgan Schneiderlin to Goodison Park in January. The player has played under Koeman before, when both were at Southampton, and the move looks to be a likely one, as Jose Mourinho has already revealed that Schneiderlin can leave in the January transfer window.
In other transfer news, Chelsea are reportedly set to offer £30m to Hoffenheim in January for centre-back Niklas Sule. Antonio Conte made Sule one of his major transfer targets when he took over as Chelsea boss, however it seems that Hoffenheim will reject Chelsea’s initial offer for the player, as they believe that the German international is worth more than £30m.
One player who will almost certainly leave Chelsea in January is Oscar, who is reportedly ready to make a £60m move to Shanghai SIPG. He is not the only Chelsea player who could be heading to China though, as it is also being reported that Cesc Fabregas is also a target for Guangzhou Evergrande, who would be prepared to pay £40m for him. Fabregas has already stated that he wants to fight for his place at Chelsea though.
It is also being reported that Chinese club Hebei China Fortune are lining up a lucrative bid for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, and that they’d be prepared to pay him £500,000 a week. Arsenal have offered Sanchez a new contract though, in an attempt to ward off any interest from other clubs, but it is thought to be for a lower figure than Sanchez wants.
